Cape Cod Highland Lighthouse  In May of 2013 the Boston Herald called us about our tours of Portland Maine with the Portland Fire Engine Co.  We were featured in the ROADTRIP Section with Ben & Jerry’s as well the Highland Lighthouse.  The following is the article in full from Thursday May 23, 2013.

Hit The Road – These Cool Day Trips Are Cool, Close and Cheap

Cape Cod Highland Lighthouse Boston Herald

The long Memorial Day weekend ahead marks the seasonal migration to beach rentals and tourist spots throughout the North-East.  We are of New England, it is what we must do.  Yet we often pay a premium for the pleasure.  Coastal living and summering in the region can get pricey.  but there are inexpensive options for the unofficial start of summer.  here are a few cheap day trips that’ll get you out without breaking the bank.

See Portland from atop a fire – engine – $15.00

What kid didn’t want to be a fireman someday?  The Portland Fire Engine Co. (180 Commercial St., Portland, Maine) can make it feel like you’ve achieved that dream while getting a great look at this scenic ocean side city.  Visitors board a vintage fire engine – a tall bright red vehicle that carries 12  people – and head out on a loop around the city.  The tour includes a multimedia presentation aboard the fire truck (using a flat-screen TV – probably not stock aboard this vehicle) as it explores the neighborhoods of Portland.  Expect to see sites such as Forge Gorges, Bug light, the arts district, Casco Bay and Fort Allen.  Tours, roughly 50 minutes long, leave every hour from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Adults are $15.00, kids are $10 and infants ride for free.  Portland is a 90-minute drive from Boston.  Written by Bill Burke – The Travel Guy.

We have raised our prices slightly for the 2016 season.  Adults are now $18.00, Kids are $12.00 and Infants are still free.  We are also offering a Senior and Military discount.  Tickets are $16.00.  We hope to see you in the Old Port for tours of Portland Maine with the Portland Fire engine Co.
